Both of today’s selections produced slightly disappointing runs:
Madison Du Berlais put in a mixed round of jumping and seemed to go on and off the bridle. He looked to be moving well with a circuit to go but ultimately he finished well beaten.
I suspect he will come good this season – his current handicap mark looks lenient enough and he may drop a few more pounds from today.
I’ll certainly be keeping him on the radar.
Moleskin travelled well is a disputed lead until he made a mistake at the first on the back straight. Initially it didn’t look too serious, but it seemed to completely knock him out of his stride and he was soon towards the rear of the field.
He made back a little ground without ever really looking likely to get to the leaders. As with Madison, he will doubtless come on for the run and is not one to dismiss just yet…
