7th November - Race review

Horse: Cloonawillin Lady
Price Advised: 16/1
ISP: 13/2
BSP: 8.25
Position: Unplaced

Cloonawillin Lady was a big springer in the market, backed from an opening show of 16/1 into 13/2 joint 3rd favourite.
I’m either moving markets more than I think – or someone, somewhere feels this mare has the ability to win a race of this nature.
Alas, we never stood a chance of finding out today, as she clouted the first fence and then proceeded to make numerous other jumping errors. In fairness, she appeared to travel well during the early part of the race but once the tempo quickened, she started making mistakes again.
She did eventually complete the course but it was very much in her own time.
Whether you should give a horse like this another chance is debatable. My view of her is based to a large extent on second guessing others. She may come good at some point, but then again she may never again show on the course, what some people seem to believe her capable of…
At the end of the day, it was a 0.5pt risk – and the starting price suggested that we at least got value at 16/1 :)
